We have police and security patrols that work in our neighborhood. In order to help them to be as effective as possible, it is very important that our residents take the time to report any unusual or suspicious activities. Please call 9-1-1 and the WRA office, so the security patrol can follow-up. We all enjoy living in a safe and secure community.

It’s nearly pipe-freezing season, so protect all of your pipes from the cold. Protect exposed faucets by wrapping them with a dry rag or newspaper, and cover them with a large tin can. Protect interior pipes (such as those in garages and crawlspaces) by wrapping them with newspaper or foam insulation. To protect indoor pipes, keep the temperature above 60 degrees at all times. At night, and especially when you go on vacation or leave for the holidays, leave the water running at a drip when it’s very cold.

Please remember that there is a leash law in effect for all of Wilderness Rim. This is not only for other people’s safety, but for the safety of you and your dog as well. If you see a dog that is loose, please call Animal Control at 800-325-6165, then 67387.

11.08.160 Dog control zone – Wilderness Rim community. Under the provisions of this chapter, there is created a dog control zone in the following described area:

Wilderness Rim Division No. 1 (Vol. 82, pages 48, 49 and 50); Wilderness Rim Division No. 2 (Vol. 84, pages 95, 96, 97 and 98); Wilderness Rim Division No. 3 (Vol. 90, pages 60, 61 and 62), all recorded in volumes of Plats, Records of King County, Washington. (Ord. 4909 § 1, 1980: Ord. 4385 § 1, 1979).

Title 11 – ANIMAL CONTROL

            11.08.030  Dogs at large prohibited in dog control zones.  It is unlawful for owners, residing within a designated dog control zone, to allow their dogs to be at large or without restraint, except that this section shall not apply where the dogs are engaged in obedience training, lawful hunting activity, lawful competition sanctioned by a nationally recognized body or a local chapter thereof, or lawful training in preparation for such hunting or competition, are working dogs engaged in the herding of livestock, or are working dogs engaged in sanctioned search and rescue activities. (Ord. 11150 § 3, 1993:  Ord. 3548 § 3, 1978).

“At large” means to be off the premises of the owner and not under the control of the owner by leash; provided, that an animal within an automobile or other vehicle of its owner shall be deemed to be upon the owner’s premises.

“Lawful training” means to be engaged in training on the premises of the owner or on the land of another person by permission, or on public land that is set aside for training or is open for hunting or trapping; provided, that the dog is accompanied afield by the owner or trainer.  A “no‑shooting” area shall not be interpreted to mean a “no-training” area.

“Leash” includes a cord, thong or chain not more than fifteen feet in length by which an animal is physically controlled by the person accompanying it.

“Restraint.”  An animal is considered to be under restraint if it is maintained and remains within the property limits of its owner or keeper.  (Ord. 3732 § 3, 1978:  Ord. 3548 § 2, 1978).

Thank you to all the community members who showed up to help take care of our park. We had a great time, even in the rain. The bushes and Rhodies are in great shape again. Don’t fret if you weren’t able to pitch in this time, there will be lots to help with when the snow melts!

1) You must be a resident of Wilderness Rim or a member of Wilderness Rim to post a sign. Please include a contact phone number on your sign.
2) All signs shall be dated and posted with either staples or tacks. Please do not use nails.
3) Signs shall not exceed 11 inches by 17 inches in size, and no additional attractions (balloons, banners, streamers, etc.) shall be posted with any sign.
4) Signs must be weatherproof.
5) Wording shall be appropriate and not distasteful.
6) Business, political and religious signs are prohibited.
7) Event signs shall be posted no more than five days prior to any event, and shall be removed within 24 hours following the event.
8) Signs for items for sale may be posted only if they are sold by owner.
9) Signs may be posted for one week increments.
10) WRA reserves the right to post, remove and dispose of any signs.

The monster cake walk was the favorite activity of the 35 children and 15 parents who braved the chilly weather to celebrate. The kids also had a great time in the Spooky Hollow, fishing for treasure, pinning the nose on the witch, and tossing bats at the ghost. There were snacks at the Spooky Café and lots of medals were awarded at the costume contest. The Raccoon won the medal for having the most unique costume.

This was a great event and we’d like to thank all those who made it happen. Our volunteers were: Patti and Amanda Gates; Paige Dahlberg; Kim Thompson; Kayleen Glenn; Donna Jaeger; Debbie Latta; Karen Kruger; Cyndee Dewey; Jackie, Trina, Brittney, Laura and David Welninski; Joyce Jansen; Blanca and Jim Anderson; Wendy Harrison and Danielle Haywood. These people helped with planning, making announcements, organizing, ordering, shopping, baking, building props, decorating, setting up, running the booths and cleaning up.

Brewster Lake may freeze over soon, but remember – the lake does not freeze solid. For your safety, please stay off the ice. Thank you.

Please do not leave any discarded items or “for free” items at the entrance to the Rim or at the Triangle. This is considered illegal dumping. If you have any items that you would like to give away, you may post a sign on the bulletin boards. We want to keep our community looking great. Thanks.

This month’s water bill also includes a charge of $50.00, which is for the Security and Park Assessments.
