Budget and Finance Committee Meeting Cancelled

The Treasurer is not available to Chair this Committee Meeting due to another event that takes precedence at this time.

As volunteers, the trustees and committee leaders, will find it difficult to prioritize WRA activities over more fulfilling interests or commitments when their time and expertise is not valued here.

There is no requirement in our Bylaws or the RCW that a committee meeting be held at this time.

Should you have any constructive observations, questions or concerns, please email them to Susie, at office@wildernessrim.org.  The office will, as always, respond to these items or forward them to the appropriate committee leadership or the trustees.  Please remember our posted office hours are when such messages are processed.

Thank you.

Wil Chromey, Co-Chair of the Water Utilities Committee, being very satisfied at the performance of Satellite Management Services and Roger Lillejord, and having no pressing business to address is cancelling this meeting and will convene again in August.

The meters will be read this coming weekend by Ben Larson.  Please keep an eye out for him on his bicycle as he travels our community’s streets.

Anyone with questions or concerns for the Water Utilities Committee are encouraged to email water@wildernessrim.org.

Urgent Request to Reduce Water Use

UPDATE:  July 1, 2016:   The new pump is in, both wells are working.  Banners reminding us to reduce water us are down.  Thank you to everyone who helped with this conservation effort.  Sallal Water Association CWSO Denny Scott expressed his gratitude for our support and cooperation.  He said it helped and made this process much easier for them.

June 7, 2016 Update to Water Conservation Notice

Residents of Wilderness Rim—

We have learned from Sallal Water Association that there will be a delay in replacing the well pump that has failed. It will be the end of the June before it is repaired. We are relying on a single well that is functioning at three-quarter capacity so the total water supply is reduced by more than one-half.

Remember, this is not a water quality issue. Our water is as safe as ever.

Sallal has asked in particular that we reduce as much as possible outdoor water uses. These would include watering the lawn, car washing, pressure washing, filling your hot tub or pool.

We recognize the hot weather will make some of this a challenge and ask that you just try to do what you can to help out in this situation.

Activities such as steam cleaning carpets should be delayed if possible until after the first of July.

Your family needs to make decisions about where water use can be reduced inside the home.   Fewer loads of laundry, and more diligence on general water saving behaviors we already know are helpful can make a significant difference when many households make an effort.

We appreciate your consideration in this situation and will update this website as new information is available.

URGENT – WATER CONSERVATION NOTICE

Friday, June 3, 2016

Residents of Wilderness Rim—

Please be advised, Sallal Water Association, which supplies water to Wilderness Rim, has informed WRA today that one of the two supply wells is currently inoperative. Additionally, the remaining well is not functioning at capacity.

Residents are urged to conserve water immediately until further notice.

Sallal Water Association estimates the necessary repairs will be completed by the end of next week.  WRA is actively working with Sallal to expedite this matter and will provide updates as they become available.

Please limit your consumption of water to necessary use until the issue is resolved. WRA will post all updates to the community website: www.wildernessrim.org, neighborhood bulletin boards, and the WRA Facebook page to keep everyone informed.

Should you have any questions or concerns, please email the WRA office at: Office@wildernessrim.org or call 425-888-0087.

Thank you for your cooperation,

Ditch and Culvert Work on South Loop Starts Soon

We have received the letter below from Wendy Kara, with King County Department of Natural Resources and Parks.  She has told us that this work may start within a few days.

Dear Wilderness Rim Association,

This e-mail is to inform you of some maintenance actions that King County is planning for your neighborhood as soon as we can get the King County construction crew scheduled.  This is work that is being done under the FEMA and State grant to reduce flooding in your neighborhood.  Today the state gave us the okay to move ahead with this work and King County Roads let us know that they have an opening in their schedule starting this week and we are planning to get this work on their schedule while we have the opportunity.  Please let us know right away if you have any questions about this work.

Reconstruct roadside ditches and clean out driveway culverts along portions of SE 175th Place and 424th Ave SE

Raise infiltration pond maintenance access road and connect to existing berm to the northwest

I’ve attached plans that show the location of work to reconstruct the roadside ditches as we proposed in our grant proposal.  Plans can be confusing to read, but if you look at the attached ditch work plan, sheet 2 shows with cross hatching the location of the ditch work.  The sheet 6 shows the ditch side slopes which will typically be approximately 1.5:1 or 2:1 and the depth will be approximately 1-1.5 feet deeper than current ditches.   [Wendy’s attachments are available from the WRA office by request.]

I’ve also attached the plans for raising a portion of the pond maintenance access road and connecting to an existing berm next to the infiltration pond behind the house at 17316 424th Ave SE to provide flood protection to the three homes (lots 1010, 1020 and 1030) northwest of the pond access road.  The berm connection will involve about 3 feet of fill and the maintenance access road will be raised approximately 1-1.5 feet in the areas that need to be raised.  [Wendy’s attachments are available from the WRA office by request.]

The more typical pond maintenance may also be done at this time, though that hasn’t been confirmed yet.  The larger excavation/maintenance project to be done under the grant will likely happen next year.

Let me and Tim Kelly, our project engineer, know if you have questions.
