November WRA Water Utilities Committee (WUC) Update from the Chair

ErniePictureWe had Paige Igoe of Washington State Department of Health come to the Rim to do a Sanitary Survey.  The meeting consisted of Ernie Henrie (WRA), Page Igoe (DoH), Denny Scott (Sallal/WRA Water System Operator) and Jessica Besso (WRA). The meeting lasted for nearly two hours and some of the action items requested were:

  • Being prepared for a possible future Bacteria/E.coli event in the Rim
  • Planning for a meter replacement program
  • Following up on our Cross Connection Control Program
  • Fire flow (fighting a fire reduces the water pressure in the surrounding community)

These topics will be discussed and plans formulated to implement these needed programs. At this time we are still waiting for the engineer’s report so we can review it in detail. To implement some of these programs will be very easy and some will not. The fire flow and meter replacement programs will be very costly to implement and take much time while the cross connection control and E.coli programs will be far easier to initiate.

Also, WRA will be applying for water rights with Washington State Department of Ecology. This will be quite a process so stay tuned!

Want to be involved? Contact Water@wildernessrim.org or come to the committee meetings on the second Wednesday of each month.

Suzanne Glazier – Resignation Announcement

From Steve McDonald, WRA Board of Trustees President:

It’s with regret that I announce the resignation of our Administrative Assistant Suzanne Glazier. She will be with us until July 3. Through the month of July she has offered  to help us during her days off from her other position on Tuesday and Wednesday.  This will help in the billing and transition responsibilities to the new Administrative Assistant that is identified.  Suzanne has been the smiling face that many of you have seen as you have come into the office. Her kindness and willingness to help is unmatched and she will be greatly missed. She loved her position with WRA and enjoyed working with all of the members in our community. She will be taking on a full time position as an assistant concierge with a company in Bellevue with full benefits.

We will miss Suzanne and wish her the very best in her new position. Please stop by the office or give her a phone call and wish her well.

Who let the dogs out?

Barking dogs getting on your nerves?  Are your neighbor’s dogs driving you to distraction?  Are your dogs the barkers?  Doesn’t really matter.  Man’s best friend needs to be trained to give our neighborhood some peace.  Protection is one thing, but incessant barking can produce an unwelcome effect on the neighbors.  Please ask your neighbors if your dogs are barking while you’re away. When you’re home, please train your dogs to ensure a peaceful environment.  Some tips are here:

Thank you!
